A guide to immigration procedures

Check which procedure matches your circumstances before collecting documents. Identity, residence history, family or work connections and previous decisions may each be relevant.

Discuss your case

What we review

We review identity, immigration history, personal and family circumstances, work or other relevant connections and any previous decisions. Document consistency and the rules applicable to the particular application are central to the assessment.

Documents to prepare

  • Passport and current or previous residence documents
  • Applications, submission receipts and notifications
  • Documents supporting the relevant family, work or financial circumstances
  • Foreign certificates and any translations or legalisation already obtained

You do not need to arrive with a perfect file. Bring what is available and identify any documents still missing, especially where a formal date or deadline is involved.

Choosing the next step

We identify missing evidence and explain the proposed route before filing. If an application has been refused, the reasons and notification date are reviewed before deciding whether an appeal or another application is appropriate.

Questions about the process

Can I use the same documents for every procedure?

Different residence and nationality routes have different requirements. Confirm the applicable procedure first; a document useful for one application may be insufficient or unnecessary for another.

How do I arrange an initial consultation?

Call the Madrid office or use the enquiry form. Explain the main facts and any relevant deadline. We will identify the information needed and the scope of any proposed work.
